Chris joined Green Alliance in July 2008. His work has focused on carbon capture and storage and EU budget reform, with an emphasis on political analysis and advocacy in both the UK and via our growing EU networks.
Chris compiled and edited the October 2008 publication A last chance for coal: making carbon capture and storage a reality, and the February 2010 publication Unlocking a low-carbon Europe: perspectives on EU budget reform.
He organised the March 2009 visit to London and Brussels by a US delegation of energy regulators and CCS experts, and convened the September 2009 UK CCS dialogue. He also led the development of the LowCarbonBudget.eu website project and Green Alliance events in Budapest, Madrid and Paris during Spring 2011.
Chris is a member of the Advisory Council of the European Technology Platform for Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants (ZEP). He also sits on the Energy Advisory Panel of the Energy Institute and the Advisory Committee of the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Community. From 2008 to 2011 he was the UK board member and a Vice President of the European Environmental Bureau , Europe's largest network of environmental organsiations.
Prior to joining Green Alliance Chris was the coordinator of E3G’s innovative ‘Europe in the World’ programme from 2004-2008, from where he was also managing editor of the openDemocracy ‘Global Deal’ blog on the Bali climate negotiations.
Chris holds a first class degree in Environmental Management and Policy from the London School of Economics, and a Masters in leadership for sustainable development from Forum for the Future and Middlesex University. He has lived and worked in Mexico and Ecuador, and speaks Spanish.
